Happy St. Patrick's Day!

For the "greenest holiday of the year," I decided to make a green smoothie for breakfast. My dad and I have been making lots of smoothies lately, so we've been getting pretty good at figuring out what's healthy and will taste great. Almost every one we make is green because we add a handful of spinach and kale to bump up the nutrients. Even though they're not always the prettiest, they taste great and are great for you! Here's the recipe I created for my smoothie today:

1/2 cup water
2-3 Tbsp. lemonade concentrate
1 handful fresh spinach
1 small kale leaf
1 handful frozen red grapes
6 medium frozen strawberries
Half of one granny smith apple, sliced and frozen
2 small bananas (or 1 1/2 large), frozen

We use a Vitamix, but any good blender should work. Put all of the ingredients into the blender and blend everything on high until it becomes a homogeneous mixture, then garnish with basil, lime, or anything you choose. You can also add almost anything to the smoothie, including mango, pineapple, or peach, if you'd like. Have a great St. Patrick's Day, and enjoy!

Yummy! Your smoothie looks good. I'll have to get kale and freeze my grapes to try it. Yay!
